Yes Giantess, Yes Please
In an age where it seems like anyone with a computer is trying to ride on the synth-pop wave, Yes Giantess gets it just right. If your first thought when hearing this band is Passion Pit after they have eaten one- or sixteen- too many Pixie Sticks, you are not so far off the mark. Yes Giantess’ double A-side release featuring “Tuff N Stuff†and “You Were Young†was produced at Passion Pit’s Ayad Al-Adhamy’s studio Bo Flex Music.
They have fallen into the London indie-pop scene with such ease that it is difficult to decide if it is endearing or disappointing that they are actually from Boston, MA. Their success abroad is not so surprising though as they are signed with London based Neon Gold Records. The label describes the band as, “The sonic equivalent of flying down the yellow brick road while it’s raining ecstasy and skittles, and yeah, you’re gonna want to taste this rainbow.†Well when you put it that way…
Having previously toured with Little Boots and currently on the NME tour featuring Golden Silvers, Marina & The Diamonds, and Local Natives until mid-October, it is likely that Yes Giantess will emerge stateside in full force.
Hopefully you were able to catch Yes Giantess in New York during CMJ. If not, Yes Giantess will be playing on November 20th at Trinity College at what will clearly be a kick-ass show.
