Has there ever been a time when a listener called in and you yourself got emotional during the conversation?
Yes. During my early RJ days, a listener called in. It was Mother's Day. I had lost my mother a few years ago, so I was emotional already. This lady calls and tells me how she doesn't enjoy being a mother anymore. The reason behind it was heartbreaking: How her identity had vanished from the lives of the people she loved, how no one would ever praise her or ask her how she was anymore and that everything was about the kid. How every time the kid did something good it was the father's child but at every mistake he was a mother's child. She shared how she felt so openly I couldn't hold it back. And we both cried. It wasn't live though I did put excerpts from that conversation ON AIR.
