Hi Sir , How did you become rj like have you done any course rj'ing or directly join radio. I also wants to become a rj , should I take any course?
Hi Ayush!
First off, I'm so happy, and truly honored, that you're thinking of becoming an RJ. You know? I didn’t start with formal training. I kind of unintentionally prepared myself for this role. Working on my speaking skills, participating theatres, writing and anchoring at college events… I was unknowingly inching closer to this dream every day.
Technically, I haven’t taken a full-fledged RJ course. I did have a few sessions on using the radio equipment and getting the basics of how radio runs. But most of my learning came from watching tons of videos and even finishing an online course on screenplay writing. My brief stint with an FTII course in understanding cinema also helped me sharpen my storytelling and presentation skills. So yes—I was quietly training myself to be an RJ, even without realizing it.
Now, Ayush, here’s something important: if you want to be an RJ, start by becoming a storyteller. Share stories with everyone you meet, look for stories in everyday life, and bring them out in a way that leaves people eager for what comes next, that will be your training ground! I'm not completely sure if formal courses for RJ-ing are widely available, but they're out there. You could explore online platforms, or check with institutions offering media and broadcast training.
No matter how you choose to learn, keep your spirits high and your voice authentic. Wishing you all the best!
