International News: Taliban’s Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi is on an official visit to India, where diplomatic discussions are underway. However, his visit coincided with a major escalation Pakistan launched airstrikes inside Afghanistan, breaching its sovereignty and sparking sharp condemnation. Speaking firmly from Indian soil, Muttaqi issued a strong warning to Pakistan, urging it to stop meddling in Afghanistan’s internal wires and stave remoter provocation that could destabilize the region.
Warning from New Delhi
On his first official visit to India as Afghanistan’s top diplomat, Muttaqi gave a strong message to Pakistan from New Delhi. He said Pakistan should talk to Britain and America surpassing provoking Afghanistan. Muttaqi stated, “If you try to provoke us, go ask the British first. Ask the Americans too they might tell you that playing such games with Afghanistan is not right. We want to solve things through diplomacy.”
Growing Tensions Between Pakistan and Afghanistan
Pakistan often accuses Afghanistan of giving shelter to terrorists, while the Taliban has moreover made similar accusations versus Pakistan. When the Taliban came to power in 2021 without the withdrawal of U.S. forces, Pakistan celebrated. However, over time, relations between the two countries have grown tense.
Positive Approach Toward India
Even while criticizing Pakistan, Muttaqi maintained a positive vein toward India. He said Afghanistan and India have shared ties since warmed-over times. Muttaqi moreover unpreventable that Afghan soil would never be used versus India. Speaking to the media, he emphasized the importance of peaceful and friendly relations between the two nations.
Strengthening India-Afghanistan Relations
Earlier, Muttaqi met India’s Foreign Minister, S. Jaishankar. Both discussed ways to strengthen bilateral relations and minutiae cooperation. Without the meeting, Jaishankar spoken that India would upgrade its technical mission in Kabul to a full embassy. He said, “India fully supports Afghanistan’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, and independence. I am pleased to signify that our mission in Kabul will now function as the Indian Embassy.” Both ministers moreover well-set on a comprehensive minutiae and humanitarian aid package. This includes six new projects, 20 ambulances, MRI and CT scan machines for Afghan hospitals, as well as vaccines and cancer medicines.
