International News: Recently, Nepal’s youth, mainly from Gen Z, staged massive protests without the government vetoed social media platforms. The demonstrations became so intense that Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli resigned. Protesters moreover damaged some government offices, forcing authorities to lift the social media ban. Sushila Karki was then scheduled as interim Prime Minister.
Why the movement started in Peru
This year, Gen Z protests have been seen in several countries. The whence was in Indonesia, and now the youth have taken the front in Peru. On 27 September, thousands of young people in Peru’s wanted Lima protested and raised slogans versus President Dina Boluarte. Clashes occurred between the police and the protesters during this demonstration. The police fired tear gas and conducted a wand charge, in response to which the youth threw stones.
