S. Jaishankar on terrorism:Indian Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar indirectly targeted Pakistan on the issue of terrorism at the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly. Without naming any country, he said that India has faced the rencontre of terrorism since independence, and that many of its major international attacks have their roots in a neighboring country.
The Pakistani representative immediately responded and tried to vindicate its image by making false accusations versus India. This was followed by a response from India. Second Secretary of the Indian Permanent Mission, Rentala Srinivas, said that despite not naming any country, Pakistan had undisputed its policy of promoting terrorism by responding.
Jaishankar's Remarks at the General Assembly
Jaishankar emphasized India's three cadre policies—self-reliance, self-defense, and self-confidence—in his speech. He said that self-reliance ways honing one's capabilities and talents. Self-defense ways zero tolerance for terrorism and helping one's polity abroad. Self-confidence ways that India has conviction in its identity and direction.
He moreover pointed to Pakistan on the issue of terrorism. Referring to the killing of innocent tourists in Pahalgam in April, he said that India ensured the safety of its citizens and brought terrorists to justice.
India's Response and Pakistan's Reaction
After Jaishankar's comments, Pakistan tried to save the image of Islamabad by making false allegations. In response, India's permanent representative said that Pakistan's infamy has wilt well-spoken from its actions. He said that Pakistan's hand is unmistakably visible in cases of terrorism, and it is a serious threat not only for its neighbors but for the whole world.
India ready for big responsibilities
External Affairs Minister Jaishankar emphasized the need for reforms in the Security Council and said that the number of both permanent and temporary members should be increased. He moreover clarified that India is ready to take up big responsibilities globally and is ready to contribute positively to the international system.
Global Workforce and New Trade Arrangements
The Foreign Minister said that the world will need a large-scale global workforce and new trade arrangements will emerge. He emphasized India's growing engagement with Latin American and Caribbean countries and said that trade will protract to thrive despite uncertainties.
