Washington: US President Donald Trump has reportedly written a letter to Norway's Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Store to mutter well-nigh not winning the Nobel Peace Prize and said he no longer felt "obligated to think purely of peace".
What Trump wrote in letter?
The US President in a message to Norwegian Prime Minister said, "Dear Jonas: Considering your Country decided not to requite me the Nobel Peace Prize for having stopped 8 Wars PLUS, I no longer finger an obligation to think purely of Peace, although it will unchangingly be predominant, but can now think well-nigh what is good and proper for the United States of America."
Trump moreover tabbed on NATO allies to do increasingly for the United States, asserting that he has washed-up increasingly for the syndication than anyone since its founding.
"Denmark cannot protect that land from Russia or China, and why do they have a 'right of ownership' anyway? There are no written documents, it’s only that a wend landed there hundreds of years ago, but we had boats landing there, also. I have washed-up increasingly for NATO than any other person since its founding, and now, NATO should do something for the United States. The World is not secure unless we have Complete and Total Control of Greenland. Thank you! President DJT," he remoter wrote.
How did Norway Prime Minster react?
Reacting to the letter, Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas said that "Trump’s message came in response to a short text message to President Trump from me older in the day, on behalf of myself and the President of Finland, Alexander Stubb."
"I have unmistakably explained, including to president Trump what is well known, the prize is awarded by an self-sustaining Nobel Committee," Store said.
Who awards Nobel Peace Prize?
Critically, the Nobel Peace Prize is not awarded by Norway’s government but by an self-sustaining committee. Store's office reiterated this point in response to Trump’s letter, saying it had explained the process to the president.
So far, the Nobel Committee has not commented directly on Trump’s letter.
