Ukraine Unleashes Largest Strike Inside Russia Yet Operation Spider Web Leaves Trail of Devastation

Published: Jun 02, 2025

International News: The fierce war that has been going on for three years between Russia and Ukraine now seems to be reaching a turning point. This is the first time during this conflict that, on the one hand, the possibilities of peace talks have emerged, and on the other hand, Ukraine has carried out military action by penetrating inside Russia. The recent operation 'Spider Web' carried out by Ukraine has not only shocked Moscow's military capability but has also created a stir at the international level.

Russian peace proposal, but with conditions

Russia has recently submitted a detailed memorandum to Ukrainian representatives, laying out its conditions for a complete ceasefire. Vladimir Medinsky, head of the Russian delegation, said that Russia could also agree to a limited ceasefire of 2 to 3 days in some areas. However, he has clearly rejected an unconditional ceasefire, which shows that the Kremlin is still not ready to completely give up its strategic position.

Europe, together with America, has better weapons than Russia. We also have stronger tactical solutions – our operation “Spiderweb” yesterday proved that. Russia must feel what its losses mean. That is what will push it toward diplomacy.

Zelensky's warning

Amid this development, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is attending a summit with the leaders of NATO and Nordic countries in Lithuania. Regarding the possible talks to be held in Istanbul, Zelensky said that if no concrete results emerge from there, then the US and the European Union should impose immediate and tough sanctions on Russia. His statement shows that Ukraine is now putting pressure not just through words, but through action and global support.

Operation Spider Web: Such a big attack inside Russia for the first time

Ukraine's intelligence agency, SBU, carried out 'Operation Spider Web' after about one and a half years of planning and preparation. Under this operation, military bases were attacked by entering thousands of kilometers inside Russia with the help of 117 drones and several cruise missiles. These drones were sent hidden in wooden cabins in special trucks. At the time of the attack, the cabins opened and the drones went straight to their targets.

The SBU claims that 41 military aircraft of Russia have been damaged in this attack, including bombers like the TU-22 and TU-95 and A-50 radar detection aircraft. It is estimated that Russia has suffered a loss of about $7 billion due to this attack.

The war has become a game of strategy

'Operation Spider Web' has made it clear that Ukraine is no longer just defensive but has adopted an offensive strategy. On the one hand, it is keeping the path of diplomacy open, while on the other hand, it is trying to get its terms accepted by harming Russia. This war is no longer just a battle of arms but has become a game of strategy, pressure, and international support. The coming weeks will determine how effective the peace talks will prove to be or whether the fire of war will intensify.
