Published: Jul 12, 2025

National New: After the investigation report of the Air India Flight AI171 accident that happened in Ahmedabad on June 12 came out, now an official statement has been issued by the airline. Air India expressed deep sorrow over this horrific accident that took the lives of 260 people and said that it stands with the victim families and is giving all possible cooperation to the investigating agencies.

Air India said that the investigation is still ongoing, so at the moment they will not comment on any technical or specific points of the report. The airline also clarified that they have received a copy of the preliminary report of the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) and they are working closely with all the concerned authorities.

'Received a copy of the report but won't comment.'

Air India said in its statement, "We have received a copy of the preliminary report issued by AAIB today, July 12." He further said, "Since the investigation is still in an active stage, we cannot comment on any technical details. AAIB is the authorized body for all such questions."

Air India stands with the victim families

Expressing condolences to the 260 people who died in the crash of AI171 flight, Air India said, Air India stands in solidarity with the families and individuals affected by the AI171 accident. Working together with all stakeholders

Air India also informed us that they are in constant touch with AAIB and other regulatory bodies and are fully cooperating with the investigation. 'Air India is working closely with all stakeholders, including regulators. We will continue to fully cooperate with AAIB and other authorities as their investigation progresses.' Air India is working closely with all concerned parties and regulatory agencies. We are fully cooperating with AAIB and other bodies.

What did the AAIB report say?

According to the preliminary report of AAIB, both the engines of AI171 flight had shut down soon after takeoff as the fuel cutoff switches had transitioned from 'RUN' to 'CUTOFF.' Later they were brought back to 'RUN,' but by then it was too late. Due to this technical fault, the plane crashed in Ahmedabad. The report said that at present no immediate safety alert has been issued for Boeing 787-8 or GE engine operators, but the manipulation of the fuel switch has been considered a critical point, which is under investigation.
