Delhi CM Rekha Gupta has spoken that Monday, October 27, will be a government holiday in observance of Chhath Pooja, equal to an official statement from her office. The Chief Minister explained that this holiday falls on Monday considering the third day of this four-day festival is the most significant. "On this day, devotees pray to the setting Sun God near rivers or ponds at sunset. The day starts early with families performing variegated rituals. Considering this, the government has supposed October 27 a public holiday," the statement said.
Extending her greetings to the devotees, CM Rekha Gupta said that Chhath is a festival that honors nature, with people worshipping the Sun God and Chhathi Maiya. She mentioned that the festival reflects faith, devotion, and cleanliness while promoting environmental superintendency through respect for nature, water, and the Sun.
