National News: The Crime Branch of the Delhi Police has arrested a dreaded criminal who had been absconding for 21 years. The accused, Rajendra alias Rajua, was the closest aide of the notorious serial killer Devendra Sharma, also known as 'Dr. Death'. He was wanted in a heinous murder case registered at Sarita Vihar police station in Delhi in 2004 and had long been declared a fugitive by the court.
Hid Under a Fake Identity at a Water Pump House
Rajendra had been living in the Kasimpur area of Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh, for several years under a fake identity. He worked as a security guard at a local water pump house and aroused no suspicion in the neighborhood. The Delhi Police got a lead on him during the interrogation of Devendra Sharma, following which the Crime Branch launched investigations across Aligarh, Jaipur, and Delhi. After several days of surveillance and concrete intelligence, Rajendra was arrested from Aligarh on June 14.
Involved in Multiple Murders; Bodies Thrown into Crocodile-Infested Canal
Rajendra was part of Devendra Sharma’s gang that lured taxi and truck drivers between 2002 and 2004. These drivers were brutally murdered, and their vehicles were sold off. To eliminate evidence, the bodies were thrown into the infamous Hazara Canal in Kasganj district, Uttar Pradesh, which is infested with crocodiles—ensuring complete disposal of the remains.
Gang’s Role in Over 25 Illegal Kidney Transplants
Devendra Sharma was not just a serial killer; he was also the mastermind behind a large-scale illegal kidney transplant racket that operated during the 1990s and 2000s. During interrogation, he confessed to having facilitated over 125 illegal kidney transplants, in collusion with several doctors and brokers. He had revealed that Rajendra, one of his key associates, was still on the run.
14 Years in Jail Under a False Identity, Wanted in 4 More Murders
Rajendra’s criminal saga didn’t end there. He was arrested in Jaipur in 2007 in connection with a murder case but managed to hide his real identity by using a fake name. He was sentenced to life imprisonment and served 14 years in jail without the authorities discovering his true identity. He was released on bail in 2021, after which he changed his identity once again and went into hiding in Aligarh.
Over 12 Criminal Cases Registered Across Multiple States
According to the Delhi Police, Rajendra has more than 12 criminal cases registered against him, including charges of murder, kidnapping, and robbery. He is still wanted in connection with four other murder cases registered in Delhi and Gurugram. Following his arrest, information has been sent to all concerned police stations, and further legal proceedings are underway. Police believe that Rajendra’s arrest may help uncover the truth behind several unresolved and blind cases from the past.
