Emergency Landing at Patna IndiGo Flight Hit by Bird Strike, 175 Passengers Safe

Published: Jul 09, 2025

National News: Indigo Airlines flight iG.5009 going from Patna to Delhi had to turn back at Patna Airport in an emergency on Wednesday morning when a bird collided with an engine of the aircraft shortly after the flight. There were a total of 175 passengers in the aircraft, who have been evacuated safely. The concerned flight has been canceled after the incident.

Bird hit as soon as flying, engine technical fault

At 8:42 am, Jayaprakash Narayan was involved in the aircraft collision in the aircraft while flying from the International Airport, after which a dead bird was found in pieces in the search of the runway. While the approach control unit alerted the pilot, the pilot, while feeling unusual vibrations in the engine, requested to return the aircraft to Patna immediately.

Safe Landing, all passengers safe

At 9:03 am, the aircraft made a safe emergency landing on Runway 7 in Patna. During this time the local standby was declared at the airport. There was no loss of life due to the readiness of IndiGo and airport officials.

Flight canceled; alternative arrangements are being made

IndiGo canceled the flight soon after the incident and an alternative flight is being arranged for passengers. According to airport officials, the aircraft is being investigated technically, and the DGCA has also been informed about the incident.

Constant technical events: interrupted three flights in a day

This incident took place at a time when technical problems have come to light in IndiGo flights for the third consecutive day:

Indore-Raipur flight returned: On Tuesday, IndiGo flight 6E-7295, which was going from Indore to Raipur, had to make an emergency landing at Devi Ahilyabai Holkar Airport due to a technical fault a few minutes after flying. The aircraft had 51 passengers and all remained safe.

Surat-Jaipur flight late due to bees: The Indigo flight from Surat to Jaipur was delayed 45 minutes before the take-off due to a herd of bees. A herd of bees was seen near the door of the flight's luggage compartment, which was sprayed with the help of a fire brigade to remove it.

Passengers' safety priority, but frequent incidents worrying

Even though the Patna flight incident did not change into a major tragedy, cases like frequent technical events and bird conflicts are questioned on aviation security. This is the time when airlines and airport management need to take strict measures for bird hit and flight safety.
