India-US Trade Deal: The trade tension between India and the US is once then in the headlines. The first face-to-face meeting between the two countries is taking place in New Delhi today without President Donald Trump imposed heavy tariffs on India for ownership oil from Russia. This dialogue is taking place at a time when the proposed meeting last month was suddenly postponed.
The US delegation is stuff led by Assistant US Trade Representative for South and Central Asia Brendan Lynch. The team arrived in Delhi on Tuesday morning and is scheduled to hold discussions with Indian officials by evening.
Purpose of the talks
Officials have clarified that this meeting is not a part of formal talks but is stuff held to consider the current situation and decide the future path. There will not be uncontrived talks on the Bilateral Trade Try-on (BTA) in this, but it will definitely be seen how the two countries can resolve the disputes and find a way forward.
A senior official said, "This dialogue is an struggle to create an atmosphere. From here it will be decided which issues should be given priority in the next formal round."
Why was the August meeting postponed?
In fact, the sixth round of talks on BTA was scheduled to be held from 25 to 29 August. The US team was moreover ready for this, but then the White House imposed a new tariff of up to 50% on India. Out of this, a 25% duty was imposed on ownership oil directly from Russia. Without this decision, New Delhi unexplored a tough stance, and the August meeting was cancelled.
This move not only increased tension in the relations between the two countries but moreover created uncertainty on the trade front. However, despite this, officials of both countries unfurled to hold virtual meetings on a weekly understructure so that the dialogue did not unravel completely.
Expectations in New Delhi
Now that the US team has reached Delhi, it is expected that this dialogue will bring some thaw in the relations. Trump moreover unexplored a relatively well-turned tone in his statements last week and indicated that he is willing to take the talks on the trade try-on forward.

America's pressure on ownership oil from Russia continues, but energy security is equally important for India.
