National News: In Jammu and Kashmir’s Kathua district, a cloudburst triggered by overnight heavy rain caused major destruction. Four people lost their lives, and six others were injured in the incident. The remote Jodh Valley in the Rajbagh area has been cut off, as the connecting road was completely washed away.
Rescue Operations Underway
Police teams along with SDRF have reached the affected spot to carry out rescue and relief work. Officials said further updates will be shared once detailed information is available.
Landslides in Other Villages
The downpour also triggered landslides in Baggar and Changda villages under Kathua police station limits and in Dilwan-Hutli under the Lakhanpur area. Fortunately, no major damage or loss of life was reported from these places.
Rivers and Reservoirs Overflowing
Because of continuous rainfall, water levels in several reservoirs have increased quickly. The Ujh River is flowing dangerously close to the danger level, raising concerns for nearby areas.
Authorities on High Alert
The district administration has asked people to stay away from water bodies and remain cautious. Officials are keeping strict watch on the situation to prevent further damage and ensure people’s safety.
