Panic in Islamabad Pakistan Sends 4 Letters to India Over Indus Water Treaty, Fears Ruin

Published: Jun 06, 2025

National News: Pakistan has suffered a deep setback with India's decision to postpone the Indus Waters Treaty. In order to give a strong message against terrorism, India took this decision on 22 April, when many Indian soldiers were killed in a major terrorist attack. After this, Prime Minister Narendra Modi clearly said, "Blood and water cannot flow together." After this attitude of India, efforts are being made by Pakistan to create diplomatic pressure, but so far it has not had any success.

Pak is repeatedly pleading; the World Bank has also shrugged it off

According to sources, four letters have been sent to India by the Ministry of Water Resources of Pakistan, which has appealed to restore the treaty. It has been claimed in all the letters that Pakistan's decision is facing a water crisis and agricultural problems. But the Ministry of Water Power of India has sent all these letters to the Ministry of External Affairs, from which no positive response has been given. Pakistan has now pleaded with the World Bank for arbitration, but the World Bank has also taken a neutral stand, refusing to intervene.

Work on the big plan to add Beas-Ganga Canal & Indus-Yamuna intensifies

India, using this opportunity strategically, has given impetus to the projects that can prevent the additional water provided to Pakistan. The most important plan is a 120 km long canal connecting the Beas and Ganga, whose construction work has been started in mission mode. Apart from this, the strategy of connecting the Indus river to the Yamuna is also going on. As soon as these schemes are completed, the states of North India - Delhi, Punjab, Haryana, and Rajasthan - are expected to get great relief from water problems.

Pakistan's Rabi crop will have a profound impact; kharif also hit

According to a former official associated with the Indus Water Treaty, as the water projects of India progress, they will have a direct impact on Pakistan's agricultural system. Especially the rabi crop, which is grown in winter, will have the most impact on it. Kharif crops have so far suffered partial damage, but Pakistan's food security may be in crisis due to the water supply being disrupted during the Rabi season. This strategy of India will give Pakistan a real feeling of the ill effects of terrorism.

Water made national security weapon; teams of many ministries gathered

India has started seeing water as a weapon of national security, not just a resource, through the Indus Water Agreement. A common team of officers of various ministries is preparing the DPR (detailed project report) of these projects. Early-phase projects can be completed in the next two to three years. It is a clear indication that India is now fully prepared to give a strategic injury to Pakistan not only on the borders but also through the flow of rivers.

India's move is not just a retaliation but part of a long-term strategic policy. Pakistan will now feel the influence of this hydropower not only at the diplomatic level but also on its earth. India has made it clear that now the 'symbol of peace' rivers will be a reply to the reply to terror.
