National News: Indian security agencies are on the brink of a significant breakthrough. Harpreet Singh, alias Happy Pasia, a notorious terrorist linked with the banned outfit Babbar Khalsa, is set to be extradited from the United States to India. The extradition process is nearly complete, and he is expected to be in Indian custody very soon. Happy Pasia originally hails from Pasia village under the jurisdiction of Ramdas Police Station in the Amritsar rural district, located near the India-Pakistan border. He fled the country a few years ago and had been living abroad ever since. A few months ago, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) detained him and publicly released his photograph, revealing the extent of his global criminal network.
Spread Terror Across Punjab & Chandigarh
Pasia is wanted in connection with numerous terror-related activities in Punjab, including grenade attacks and extortion of crores of rupees from local businessmen through threats and violence. Following a major terrorist attack in Chandigarh, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) declared a reward of 5 lakh for information leading to his capture in January 2025. Punjab Police had also listed him as a wanted fugitive for the past one and a half years.
According to police sources, after Pasia’s escape, his criminal operations in Punjab were taken over by an associate named Jeevan Fauji, a resident of Hoshiarpur. Together, they continued to extort money from businesspeople across Punjab using threats of violence. Following the grenade attacks, Pasia's mother and sister were arrested and sent to jail, further exposing how deeply rooted the network was—even at the family level.
Links to ISI and Rinda’s Terror Network Confirmed
Multiple serious charges have been filed against Pasia, including involvement in gang wars, drug trafficking, illegal arms smuggling, and direct connections with Pakistan’s intelligence agency ISI. Investigations have confirmed that many of the terrorist operations he executed were carried out on the instructions of Harvinder Singh Rinda, a Pakistan-backed terrorist operative. These revelations highlight a persistent threat to India's internal security and show that cross-border terror networks remain active in destabilizing the region, particularly Punjab.

The arrest of Happy Pasia in the US and the ongoing process to extradite him to India reflect India’s growing international collaboration and diplomatic strength in combating terrorism.
