National News: The Parliament witnessed heated exchanges over Operation Sindoor and the unexpected ceasefire between India and Pakistan that followed. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has kept up his attack on the government, questioning its silence on key issues. On Tuesday, Rahul told the Lok Sabha that Prime Minister Narendra Modi failed to categorically state during the debate on Operation Sindoor that U.S. President Donald Trump’s claim of mediating between the two nations was false.
By Wednesday, his criticism sharpened further as he said, “Modi is hesitant to even mention Trump’s name because he knows the moment he does, Trump will come out with the entire truth.”

‘Trump will reveal everything’ – Rahul Gandhi
Speaking to reporters in the Parliament complex, Rahul Gandhi alleged, “The Prime Minister hasn’t even said that Trump is lying. Everyone knows what transpired. He isn’t speaking up because if he does, Trump will openly reveal the truth.” He further suggested that Trump could leverage the upcoming U.S.-India trade talks, saying, “Trump is pushing for a trade agreement right now. Let’s see what kind of deal eventually takes shape.”
‘PM, Jaishankar Must Admit Trump Lied: Priyanka Gandhi
Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra echoed similar sentiments, stating, “The Prime Minister and the Foreign Minister are speaking in circles. They should clearly state that Donald Trump is not telling the truth.”

Government’s counter: ‘No thirdparty mediation’
In response to the opposition’s accusations, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar firmly told the Rajya Sabha, “This forms the foundation of India’s new policy. There is absolutely no question of any thirdparty mediation.” He also clarified, “Between April 22 and June 16, there wasn’t a single phone call between Prime Minister Modi and President Trump.”
PM Modi’s position
Prime Minister Modi had already addressed the House on Tuesday, saying, “No global leader reached out to India to halt Operation Sindoor.” Meanwhile, U.S. President Donald Trump has repeatedly claimed credit for the ceasefire between India and Pakistan, insisting that it was his “efforts that made peace possible.”
However, the Indian government has consistently maintained that no third country played any role in bringing about the ceasefire.
