National News: What began as a joyful wedding celebration turned into an unspeakable tragedy within minutes when a high-speed Bolero lost control and crashed into the wall of Janta Inter College. In the devastating accident, eight people, including the groom, lost their lives, while two others were critically injured. The incident occurred just 10 minutes after the wedding procession (Barat) had departed, plunging the entire village into silence and sorrow.
Speed Turns Fatal: Eight Lives Lost in Seconds
Eyewitnesses reported that the Bolero was moving at a dangerously high speed. It lost control, overturned, and then slammed into the wall of the local intercollege. Ten people were traveling in the vehicle; eight died on the spot, while two were left severely injured.
From Wedding Songs to Wails: Joy Turns into Grief
The village of Hargovindpur in the Junavai police station area was buzzing with wedding festivities on Friday morning. Nineteen-year-old Suraj, the groom, was set to marry in Sirasaul village, located in the Bilsi police station area of Badaun district. Women sang traditional Mangalgit, children danced to the beat of the band, and the house was full of joy.
Around 7 PM, Suraj completed the ceremonial ‘ghudchadhi’ (groom’s horseback ritual) and departed in a Bolero car with his family. His sister-in-law Asha (26), two-year-old niece Aishwarya, one-year-old Ganesh, Komal, and other relatives were also in the car. But within minutes of leaving, the celebration turned into a scene of devastation.
Rescue Operation and More Casualties En Route to Hospital
Police and rescue teams rushed to the scene. A JCB machine was used to break through the college gate and extract the victims trapped inside the mangled vehicle. All were rushed to the Community Health Center for emergency care. When their condition worsened, the injured were referred to Aligarh, but tragedy continued: the groom's sister Madhu, driver Ravi, and brother-in-law Sachin succumbed to their injuries en route.
Among the two survivors, Deva, father of deceased child Ganesh, is in critical condition, while Himanshi is reported to be stable.
Police: Loss of Control Likely Cause, Investigation Underway
Superintendent of Police Krishna Kumar Bishnoi stated that the preliminary investigation suggests the driver lost control of the vehicle. A detailed inquiry into the crash is ongoing. The deceased bodies have been sent for postmortem, and authorities are ensuring all possible support for the grieving families.
Village in Mourning: Celebration Ends in Silence
The once-festive village of Hargovindpur now echoes only with cries and sorrow. A house that was alive with wedding songs in the morning turned into a space of mourning by evening. The arrival of eight bodies at once was a heart-wrenching sight for the entire community.
This horrific accident has left behind a painful memory—one that shattered not just a family, but an entire society. It stands as yet another stark reminder that reckless speed and a moment of negligence can cost irreplaceable lives.
