National News: In order to await the federal government's conclusion, the Supreme Court has maintained the ban on the Udaipur Files movie. Following his viewing of the film, senior lawyer Kapil Sibal has voiced serious concerns. He claimed that the movie incites violence and encourages resentment towards the community. Sibal also took issue with the film's inaccurate depictions of homosexuality, mistreatment of women, and the legal system. The central government committee has been asked by the court to make a decision shortly. The matter will next be heard by the Supreme Court on Monday.
What did Kapil Sibal say in the Supreme Court?
Kapil Sibal said that he personally watched the movie when the High Court requested it. "It shook me to my core. I am typically on the opposing side, but if a judge sees it, he will see that it is entirely motivated by hatred towards the community. It's an uncommon instance. Violence results from it. This is an insult to a community," he said.
"Not a single good thing about the community has been demonstrated. In terms of homosexuality, legal issues, and women's treatment, a democratic nation is approving such a movie. Unthinkable. I don't believe any nation should permit such an agenda-driven movie," he added.
The central government should take the decision: Supreme Court
The Supreme Court did not lift the ban on the release of the movie Udaipur Files during today's session. It declared that it will await the central government's ruling. The Supreme Court said in its order that it would be wise to wait for the decision of the central government. As quickly as possible, the central government committee needs to make a decision on this.
A petition has been filed by Mohammad Javed
The film's trailer and promotion have also drawn criticism from the petitioners. Mohammad Javed, the eighth defendant in the Kanhaiya Lal murder case, has filed this petition. According to Mohammad Javed, the movie shouldn't be released till the trial is over. The Kanhaiya Lal Sahu murder case from 2022 served as the inspiration for the movie "Udaipur Files".
Maulana Arshad Madani, the president of Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind, had also submitted a petition in this matter. In his petition, Madani said that even though the censor board had removed 55 scenes, the movie's structure remained the same and that its marketing could incite violence in the nation.
