Chennai: Tuesday morning in Chennai started as usual, but hundreds of people traveling by metro suddenly got unprotected in a situation that they had not plane imagined. A metro train running on the Blue Line stopped in an underground tunnel without any warning. As soon as the fast-moving train suddenly stopped, the passengers present in the compartment got scared.
Lights went out, train stopped—passengers panicked
The train was going from the airport towards Wimco Nagar. Everything was normal until suddenly the light of the compartment blinked and the unshortened train was plunged into darkness. Within a few seconds the train stopped and got stuck in the tunnel well-nigh 500 meters surpassing the Central Metro Station.
People started getting restless due to the sudden darkness and sealed place. Parents got scared while handling the children; elders held their seats and asked for help from nearby. For well-nigh 10 minutes no one was worldly-wise to understand what had happened and what would happen next.

After some time, it was spoken in the train that due to a technical fault, the train would not be worldly-wise to move further, and the passengers would have to reach the High Court station on foot. Many people got scared without hearing the idea of walking in the tunnel, but the metro staff and technical team immediately arrived and calmed everyone down.

Metro staff showed the way with torches and evacuated the passengers safely through the walkway inside the tunnel. The path was not long, but walking in the visionless tunnel was not easy for anyone. Still, people slowly reached the High Court station, holding each other's hands. Everyone heaved a sigh of relief without reaching outside.

Chennai Metro said the fault was technical, and it took some time to fix. As soon as the situation became normal, the service from the airport to Wimco Nagar on the Blue Line was resumed. Operation remained normal on the Green Line also.
Even though this incident lasted for only a few minutes, it was a very scary wits for the people trapped inside the train. The good thing was that due to prompt action, all the passengers came out safely.
