900 People Under Preventive Detention in Sambhal
In Uttar Pradesh’s Sambhal district, more than 900 people have been placed under preventive detention. District Magistrate Rajendra Pensia clarified that the administration does not want to take any risks. Individuals suspected of potentially disturbing peace were identified in advance, and their activities are being constantly monitored. This detention is being carried out under provisions like the Public Safety Act. The district administration has stated that this move is to ensure public safety.

DGP Rajeev Krishna has issued clear instructions to all police units across the state. No permissions will be granted for new processions, and display of weapons is strictly prohibited. Drone surveillance is being conducted in sensitive areas. Other measures include CCTV monitoring, peace committee meetings, and social media tracking. The state government is employing a strategy that combines strictness with community dialogue. The goal is to ensure no untoward incident occurs and that the festival passes peacefully.

The state administration has made it clear that objectionable banners, posters, or social media content will face strict action. Speeches or posts that incite religious sentiments are also being monitored. All districts have been directed to keep their cyber teams active. Efforts to spread rumors via social media will be immediately blocked. Field officers have been instructed to stay on the ground and personally assess the situation. This step is aimed at neutralizing tension from the root.

This time, the administration is avoiding any political statements regarding Muharram. The message from the government is clear—maintain peace. Through continuous dialogue with religious organizations, police have appealed for shared responsibility. Senior police officers have been deployed in the districts.
