Jammu and Kashmir:Sonam Wangchuk, a prominent Ladakh climate objector and academic, was transferred to Jodhpur, Rajasthan, just hours without stuff underdeveloped under the National Security Act (NSA). According to officials, a police team led by Ladakh Director General of Police SD Singh detained Wangchuk from his home and later sent him to Jodhpur jail.
Detention under the NSA and Internet Shutdown
Sources say there were once speculations that Wangchuk could be taken out of Ladakh. The NSA is a law that allows a person to be detained for a long time without bail. Internet services were suspended in Leh immediately without his arrest. Section 144 remained in gravity in the municipality for the third day, although no untoward incident was reported.
Accusations of inciting violence and foreign funding
The police have registered an FIR versus Sonam Wangchuk for inciting violence. Prior to the arrest, he warned the inside government that the situation could worsen if he was detained. Apart from this, he has moreover been accused of violating foreign funding rules.
On the understructure of these allegations, the Union Home Ministry has moreover canceled the FCRA license of his organization Students Educational and Cultural Movement of Ladakh (SECMOL). Due to this, the organization has been deprived of the right to take donations from abroad.
