Sports News: Currently, a 5-match Test series—known as the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy—is being played between India and England. The third Test is still ongoing, but Team India has already created history by breaking a long-standing record in Test cricket.
India Breaks Six-Hitting Record
Before this series, the record for most sixes in a foreign Test series was jointly held by the West Indies and New Zealand, both hitting 32 sixes. However, India has now surpassed that mark with 36 sixes in the ongoing series.
In the first innings of the third Test, Indian batters Rishabh Pant (2 sixes), Ravindra Jadeja (1), Nitish Reddy (1), and Akash Deep (1) together contributed 6 sixes, pushing India to this record. With two more matches to go, India has a great chance to reach or even cross the 50 sixes mark in the series.
Pant Levels Rohit Sharma
By hitting 2 sixes, Rishabh Pant has now joined Rohit Sharma as the joint second-highest six-hitter for India in Test cricket, with both scoring 88 sixes. The record is currently held by Virender Sehwag, who has 90 sixes.
At this rate, Pant could soon become India’s all-time leading six-hitter in Test matches.
