India's tour of Bangladesh, which was originally scheduled from 17th to 31st August, 2025, might get cancelled. India was set to play three ODIs and three T20s in the upcoming tour. However, the tour might get postponed, and there are chances that it might not take place at all. While the hosts remain hopeful for the tour to happen, the BCB has stopped selling media rights for the same. For Rohit and Kohli's fans, this might not be good news, as both veteran batters were expected to be seen playing for the first time since the IPL 2025.
Reason for the Delay
The anticipated tour against the neighboring nation might get a toll because of the rising political tensions between the two countries. Amid India's conflict with Pakistan after the Pahalgam terror attack, Bangladesh has stepped in too. And due to no betterment in their relations as of now, the tour might not happen at all. The final call on the status of the series is expected to be confirmed in a week.
The BCB is awaiting a positive reply from the Indian government. "We will continue; we will take time to research the market. There is no point in rushing things. We can give different contracts," a BCB official told media when asked about the media rights.
RO-KO's long wait continues
Both former Indian captains announced their retirement from Test cricket earlier this year. The iconic batting duo for India will now continue to play the ODIs only. Virat Kohli, who won his first-ever IPL title last month, is currently spending family time in his residence in London. Rohit, who also had a decent IPL outing this year, was seen spending off time with his wife and daughter. The fans can do nothing but wait for their heroes to make an international comeback.
Asia Cup 2025
India's current political relationship with Pakistan and Bangladesh is not the best. However, it is unlikely to interrupt the scheduling of the multinational T20 tournament, Asia Cup, in the UAE. Sri Lanka is the defending champion of the Asia Cup in the 20-over format (2022). The 2025 edition of the tournament is set to begin on September 5.
