In his 100th Test match, Mitchell Starc scripted one of the best spells of his career. The pink Dukes ball is a bowler's friend, and Starc made good use of it. Scott Boland is now the first bowler to pick a hat trick in the pink ball tests. The already suffering West Indies were 26-6 before Boland dismissed Justin Greaves, Shamar Joseph, and Jomel Warrican on consecutive deliveries, claiming a hat trick. The Windies were shortly reduced to 26-9, making a mediocre total of 204 look mammoth.

Australia's skipper Pat Cummins said after the match that it was complete madness. "It played in fast forward almost. Every Test had challenging moments with tough conditions for the batters, but it was a good contest," said Pat Cummins in the post-match presentation ceremony.
