Sports news: The left-handed opening batter Vaibhav Suryavanshi played a blistering knock of 86 off just 31 balls. The knock came in the third match of the series, which was leveled at 1-1. Suryavanshi's opening partner and the stand-in captain, Abhigyan Kundu, was dismissed very early. Although Indian Colts U-19 kept losing wickets at regular intervals, Vaibhav's knock was enough to lay a foundation to chase 269. The India U-19 team won the match by four wickets.
Showstopper Suryavanshi
India U-19 opening batter Vaibhav Suryavanshi took England U-19 by storm, as he scored a quickfire 86 off just 31 balls. The southpaw notched up his half-century in just 20 balls. Even after the skipper was dismissed early, Suryavanshi's intent did not change. He smashed English bowlers all around the park. His fiery knock included nine 6s and six 4s.
The 14-year-old left-handed batter, who gained popularity in the recently concluded Indian Premier League, has fired for India U-19 throughout the series. He scored 48 off 19 and 45 off 34, respectively, in the first two games.
Second Fastest Fifty!
The opening batter became the second-fastest batter to score a fifty for India U-19 in the ODIs. He joins another southpaw in the list, Rishabh Pant, who scored the fastest fifty in just 18 balls against Nepal in the 2016 U-19 World Cup. Suryavanshi's half-century, which came in just 20 balls, changed the game in India's favor. The intent he has shown throughout the series is something to admire. The aggressive intent shown by the young batter completely dismantled England's U-19 bowlers. It will be interesting to see whether Vaibhav continues his merry ways in the upcoming two ODIs.
