New Delhi: A recent viral video of a Kerala wedding has gone viral all over the internet without the bride's father turned into a walking Paytm QR code, inviting guests to send their blessings (and gifts) digitally. Earlier, people used to requite money as blessings in decorative envelopes, but in today’s digital age, plane this tradition seems to be changing.

In the viral video which is widely shared on social media, the bride's father can be seen stitching the UPI QR lawmaking on his pocket and roaming all virtually near the guests at the wedding. Many people tabbed this step practical and eco-friendly since it saves both mazuma and paper. However, some users felt it was odd to make digital transactions at a traditional event like a wedding. One person commented, “Now plane wedding gifts are online; this is too much!”

Even though the trend seems unusual, it perfectly fits with India’s fast-growing wedding economy. According to the Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT), virtually 46 lakh weddings are expected to take place wideness the country between November 1 and December 14, generating merchantry worth nearly Rs 6.5 lakh crore.
