Wang Chuqin of the People's Republic of China delivered a table tennis masterclass to beat Brazil’s Hugo Calderano and capture the men’s singles title at the 2025 ITTF World Championships Finals in Doha, Qatar, on Sunday (25 May).
The two-time Olympic champion in doubles events now boasts a full set of gold medals at the World Championships after winning the men’s and mixed doubles titles in Durban 2023.
A Powerful 4-1 Finish
Wang Chuqin was in hot form, dominating the match with a 4-1 (12-10, 11-3, 4-11, 11-2, 11-7) victory. This upgraded the silver he won two years ago, completing his personal gold medal collection.
The world number two ended Calderano’s inspiring bid to become Brazil’s first-ever table tennis world champion.
