List of the 6 Ball 6 Sixes records: the best hits in cricket history

Published: May 27, 2025

All you cricket fans, come together! We will talk about one of the most exciting things you can do in cricket today: hitting six sixes in 6 balls in an international match. Think about how loud the crowd is as a hitter repeatedly hits the ball over the fence. These players are the only ones whose stories are known worldwide. Look at the 6 ball 6 sixes record list in international cricket and honor these great players!

What Does 6 Sixes in an Over Mean?

An over in cricket has six balls. Hitting a six lets the ball soar past the boundary without bouncing. 6 sixes in six balls is a hitter striking every ball in the over for a six! This marks 36 runs in only one over—a familiar and fun success!

Who Hit 6 Sixes in International Cricket?

Here is the exclusive 6 ball 6 sixes record list international cricket, including historical players:

1. Herschelle Gibbs: World Cup Trailblazer (2007)

  • Tournament: 2007 ODI World Cup.
  • Opponent: Netherlands.
  • Bowler: Daan van Bunge.

Herschelle Gibbs was the first-ever player to strike six sixes in an international game! Gibbs converted a routine into a pyrotechnics display during the 2007 ODI World Cup. South Africa amassed a massive 353 runs and Gibbs's 72 from 40 balls, including seven sixes. Fans will never forget a day South Africa won by 221 runs because of his brave hitting!

Fun Fact: Gibbs' Sixes raised $1 million for charity through a sponsor's challenge!

2. Yuvraj Singh: India’s T20 Icon (2007)

  • Tournament: 2007 T20 World Cup.
  • Opponent: England.
  • Bowler: Stuart Broad.

The 6 ball 6 sixes record list international cricket India clearly shows Yuvraj Singh name. Yuvraj struck 6 sixes in an over! after an upset confrontation with Andrew Flintoff directed at Stuart Broad. Leading India to triumph, he scored a 12-ball fifty—the quickest in T20 history. This legendary event enabled India to win the 2007 T20 World Cup!

Did You Know? Yuvraj's six sixes are still celebrated as one of cricket's greatest comebacks!

3. Kieron Pollard: The Caribbean Powerhouse (2021)

  • Tournament: 2021 T20I Series.
  • Opponent: Sri Lanka.
  • Bowler: Akila Dananjaya.

Kieron Pollard joined the team in fashion! Pollard hit six sixes in the next over after Sri Lanka's Akila Dananjaya completed a hat-trick! With his 38 runs off of 11 balls, the West Indies could readily chase 132 runs. Fans love Pollard for transforming the impossible into I'm possible.

Remarkable Fact: Pollard hit sixes to all parts of the ground—long-on, mid-wicket, and straight down!

4. Jaskaran Malhotra: USA's Record-Breaker.

  • Tournament: 2021 ODI Series.
  • Opponent: Papua New Guinea.
  • Bowler: Gaudi Toka.

For the USA, Jaskaran Malhotra created a legacy! He hit six sixes to end the final over of the game with 173 not out, the most excellent ODI score the USA has. The team prevailed by 135 runs, partly thanks to his fantastic hitting.

Fun Fact: Malhotra was born in India but now represents the USA!

5. Dipendra Singh Airee: Nepal's Rising Star.

  • Tournament: 2024 ACC Men's T20I Premier Cup
  • Opponent: Qatar
  • Bowler: Kamran Khan

By smashing 6 sixes in the final over! Dipendra Singh Airee shocked everyone. His score of 9-ball fifty broke Yuvraj Singh mark! Nepal scored 210 runs, and Airee turned overnight into a national hero.

Did You Know? Airee hit 8 sixes in 9 balls during this innings!

6. Darius Visser: Samoa's Teen Sensation.

  • Tournament: 2024 T20 World Cup Qualifier.
  • Opponent: Vanuatu.
  • Bowler: Nalin Nipiko.

Darius Visser, only twenty years old, hit 39 runs in one over, the most ever in international cricket! Though viewers still supported this young Samoa star, his six sixes included a no-ball.

7. Sir Garfield Sobers

  • Tournament: August 31, 1968
  • Opponent: Glamorgan
  • Bowler: Malcolm Nash

The flamboyant West Indian all-rounder was the first to accomplish the feat on August 31, 1968. Sobers was captaining Nottinghamshire against Glamorgan when Malcolm Nash came on to bowl.

Nash had no clue when he ran up to the crease that the over would tragically symbolize most of his cricket career. Sobers struck five consecutive clean smashes for six runs but was caught on the boundary on the sixth.

Glamorgan's relief was short-lived; however, as fielder Roger Davis carried the ball over the rope, the first over was hit for six sixes, contributing to the legend of the feat.

Carlos Braithwaite appeared set to become the second West Indies international to hit six sixes in the 2016 T20 World Cup final, but he ran out of runs. He hammered Ben Stokes for four straight sixes on the first four balls of the final over, securing the trophy.

8. Ravi Shastri

  • Tournament: January 19, 1985
  • Opponent: India
  • Bowler: Tilak Raj

On January 19, 1985, Shastri, a defensive player, became only the second cricketer in history to knock six sixes in one over.

The current India coach is also recognized for calling the action from the commentary box and has earned a reputation as one of the best in the game. Still, with a willow in hand, he first etched his name into history.

While playing for Bombay against Baroda, he struck left-arm spinner Tilak Raj for 36 runs in six balls.

Shastri's link to the achievement of six sixes in an over would not end there; 22 years later, on a bright spring evening in Durban, he would be the one to call the action during another successful completion of this incredible feat.
