Why Listen to Me? My Goa Diaries
I can still recall my first visit to Goa that happened yesterday. I was a bit nervous. I had assumed that it was party only. But I found a different world. I discovered quiet beaches, warm people and food that left me smiling. I have gone back since then with my family and my friends and even alone. I have been to all ends and there like thriving markets And peaceful villages alike. This guide is based on my personal experience and much love to this wonderful place.
When is the Best Time to Visit? Picking Your Perfect Season
Timing is everything! There are three seasons in Goa and they feel different.
Winter (October to February): most people prefer visiting Goa during winter period. The climate is cool, sunny and excellent. Days are wonderful to enjoy on the beach and sightseeing. The nights are comfortable. It is also the season of the year when the busiest time is expected, and places may be crowded.
Summer (March to May): It is very hot and humid. But you can get it very cheap on hotels, at least when the weather is good. It is still beautiful to walk along the beach in the early mornings and evenings.
During the monsoon season (June to September), the rains turn Goa into an incredibly lush and picturesque location. It is a wonderful nature season. But so many shacks are gone, and the sea is not safe to swim in. It is a very peaceful, restful time to see.
Getting There and Getting Around: Your Travel Options
Getting to Goa is easy!
Goa has an airport (Dabolim). It receives flights all over India. You can also come by train. I enjoy the ride in the train as the scenery is spectacular.
Travelling in Goa is an adventure!
- Scooter/Bike Rental: This is the most enjoyable mode of experiencing Goa vibes. Riding a scooter is a time-old experience. Always wear a helmet!
- Car Rental: I would always recommend a car with a driver to families or a group of people. It is cheap and you will not get bored of seeing a lot.
- Auto-rickshaws and taxis: You can find them everywhere.
Locating Your Ideal Stay: Where to Sleep Your Head
The place of stay is dependent on the experience you desire.
North Goa (similar to Calangute, Baga, Anjuna): This is a cheerful and bustling place. It is known because of its Goa night-life, markets and numerous water sports. It is awesome to young traveler and to be up front.
South Goa (similar to Palolem, Agonda, Cavelossim): this is my preferred area to relax. It is an ideal couple and family holiday. I personally like to be in beach huts or guesthouses. There is nothing like waking up to the sound of the waves!
