With another record 24-race calendar already in the planning phases, the Formula One schedule for the 2025 season has begun. The season has officially begun when the drivers and teams have mastered their vehicles in testing and their first competitive run.
What is the upcoming Formula One race
Round 10: Grand Prix of Canada
Before moving on to our next event, the Canadian Grand Prix, we get a brief respite in the busy Formula One 2025. After finishing our first tripleheader in Europe, we'll return to North America to visit Montréal's renowned Circuit Gilles Villeneuve.
The Canadian Grand Prix is when
The event will start at 2 p.m. local time [7 p.m. BST] on Sunday, June 15, and the Canadian Grand Prix will run from Friday, June 13 to Sunday, June 15.
Where is the Grand Prix in Canada
The Circuit Gilles Villeneuve opened its doors in 1978 and, except from financial issues and pandemics, has been a consistent fixture on the Formula 1 calendar ever since. It is located east of Montreal, Quebec, on the artificial island of Ile Notre-Dame in the Saint Lawrence River.
A difficult course with lots of chicanes and lengthy straights with lots of braking zones is comfortably contrasted with the laid-back track ambiance. It's a quick start to the left-hand curve 1, which is immediately followed by a right-hand hairpin curve when the lights go out on Sunday afternoon.
Before the quick 3-4 chicane, which propels them into the tight 5-6 chicane, drivers will briefly press the gas. The first significant straight since the track's beginning follows, offering drivers a chance to experience 180 mph before braking hard into the 75 mph chicane that consists of Turns 7 and 8, then the extremely severe braking zone that leads into the Turn 9 hairpin.
The track's quickest section, the Casino Straight, is reached after an upshift via a kink. The infamous Wall of Champions, which has eliminated several champions over the years in an attempt to slow down for the 90-mph chicane, is located near the conclusion.
A driver will loop back to the front straight and be allowed to say "Salut Gilles" as he starts a second lap if he can make it through the curve without hitting the wall.
