International News: After the recent Israeli air strikes in Iran's capital, Tehran, the concern of Indian students living there has increased. These students studying medicine are apprehensive about mental stress and security. They have demanded the Indian government make arrangements for safe evacuation as soon as possible.
Sudden devastation created chaos
Tabia Zahra, a second-year MBBS student at Tehran University of Medical Sciences, said that the attack took place around 3:30 in the morning.
"We were sleeping in our hostel when suddenly the ground started shaking. The windows were shaking, and it seemed as if a big explosion had taken place." Tabia, who is a resident of Jammu and Kashmir, says that even though the university is calm right now, the fear in hearts and minds is deepening.
University administration gave assurance, but situation is not clear
After the attack, university officials met the students and asked them to remain calm. However, the students were not told clearly which areas are safe or in what condition they should leave the hostel.
"We were only told not to panic, but no concrete instructions were given regarding safety," said Tabia.
Internet disruption became a new challenge
After the attack, internet service has been affected in some areas, due to which students are neither able to get proper contact with their families nor are they getting official information.
"All we are able to tell our families is that we are fine right now, but we are broken from inside," says Alisha Rizvi from Uttar Pradesh, who is studying at the same university. The Indian Embassy collects data and contacts. Alisha says the embassy has sent emails to all students asking for their local addresses and contact details in case of emergency. “We have been told that if evacuation is needed, information is being collected for that. But no one knows when it will happen,” she added.
Student unions raise voices and stress evacuation
Jammu and Kashmir Student Union convenor Nasir Khuhmi said he has received calls for help from many students and their families. “Students are under mental pressure. The government should be prepared so that they can be evacuated safely before the situation worsens,” he said.
A ray of hope amid fear The voices of Indian students in Tehran are not just a plea for help but a signal that the safety of students should be given priority in times of crisis. The Indian government should monitor the situation and open the way for relief in time so that future doctors do not become victims of this war.
