In the midst of the escalating tensions between India and Pakistan, a massive deluge of false material has appeared from Pakistani media outlets and social media handles that are affiliated with the official government. The facts have been methodically manipulated, their audiences have been mislead, and terrorist actors have been protected under a veil of patriotic propaganda for their actions. A significant number of these media outlets disseminated unsubstantiated stories that claimed Pakistan had carried out retaliation assaults on Indian territory. Some individuals pretended to be an unquestioning extension of the apparatus of the state and the military.
Allegations that are exaggerated, but no responsibility
Every major news outlet in Pakistan has been repeating the same unsubstantiated and exaggerated claim: the Pakistan Air Force has successfully shot down Indian drones. Both Geo News and ARY News reported that between 25 and 29 drones were shot down during the operation. However, ARY News said that India had employed Harop drones manufactured in Israel. Nevertheless, neither visual proof nor independent verification was presented by anyone.
Following Operation Sindoor, which was a military operation directed targeting terrorist launchpads in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir, the Indian Army issued a statement in which it claimed that Pakistan had taken aggressive response by launching drone and missile assaults. The true evidence, which included film from the military and official updates, also demonstrated that Pakistan was the one who initiated the strikes, and India followed up with a response that was both controlled and forceful.
The deaths of civilians
According to the Indian Army, the only targets of Operation Sindoor were terrorist camps; people were not their intended targets. There were dramatic portions in the Pakistani media that claimed Indian missile strikes had been launched at the Karachi Port. The Pakistan Navy installations were allegedly the target of these attacks. However, no information that has been validated has been supplied.
The media in Pakistan is attempting to depict their nation as a wounded but brave victim, and they have concealed the real military consequences of Operation Sindoor. They have also denied any link to the terrorist assault that took place in Pahalgam on April 22nd, which resulted in the deaths of 26 people.
Did the Indian government examine the facts
On social media, the official fact-checking agency of the Indian government has been disproving the assertions that have been made by the Islamic media in Pakistan. In the early hours of morning, a video that purportedly depicted a strong bombardment of Multiple Launch Rocket Systems (MLRS) was circulated without any basis in reality as an attack by Pakistan on India. The fact check branch of the Press Information Bureau (PIB) informed the public that the video in question is taken from a video game and has been available on the internet for more than three years. Several social media handles located in Pakistan have said that Pakistan was responsible for the attack on the military post in Amritsar.
Old movies that falsely claim that attacks were carried out on a military facility in Amritsar are being disseminated by accounts located in Pakistan. Video footage from a wildfire that occurred in 2024 is being distributed. If you want to get reliable information, you should avoid spreading material that has not been vetted and instead depend solely on official sources from the Government of India, as stated by the PIB in a post on X.
In addition, on Wednesday, the official fact-checking office of the government announced that it had discovered a fake advice that was incorrectly ascribed to the Centre. The Pakistan Air Force was said to have struck Srinagar Airbase and destroyed an Indian Army Brigade Headquarters, according to a number of other false allegations that were disseminated by prominent accounts that were associated with Pakistan's military media arm and the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR). On the other hand, these stories did not provide any convincing evidence, visual verification, or satellite images to back up the statements that they made.
