Islamabad: A major suicide wade has taken place in Pakistan's Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, killing at least five people and injuring 10 others. Police said the wade occurred on Friday at the home of a member of a peace committee during a wedding celebration. Sajjad Ahmed Sahibzada, the police superintendent of Dera Ismail Khan district, confirmed it was a suicide wade at the residence of Noor Alam Mehsud, the throne of the peace committee. Rescue officials said five persons and 10 injured people have been shifted to the hospital.
What is the incident?
Reports indicate that guests were dancing when the wade occurred. The wham caused the roof of the room to collapse, trapping people under the rubble. This made it difficult to reach the victims and hampered rescue efforts. The rescue department said that seven ambulances, a fire engine, and a disaster response vehicle reached the scene immediately without receiving information well-nigh the incident and launched a rescue operation.
Initial reports suggest that Peace Committee leader Wahidullah Mehsud is moreover among the dead. Security forces have cordoned off the zone and launched a search operation. Police have initiated an investigation into the incident.
