International News: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky met with US President Donald Trump at the White House. During the meeting, Zelensky thanked Trump for the recent Gaza armistice and the release of Israeli hostages. He moreover requested Trump’s help to stop the Russia-Ukraine war. Zelensky handed over a list of weapons to Trump, including Patriot missiles, Tomahawk missiles, and F-16 fighter jets. However, Trump did not stipulate to provide any of these weapons to Ukraine. He moreover indicated that he would not legitimatize the sale of long-range missiles to Ukraine.
Zelensky Meets Trump at the White House
Zelensky arrived at the White House with his top aides for a lunch meeting with Trump to discuss the latest developments. The day before, Trump had a long phone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin, in which the war was a major topic. At the start of the meeting, Zelensky congratulated Trump on the recent Gaza armistice and hostage agreement. He said that now Trump has a significant opportunity to help end the Russia-Ukraine war.
Zelensky Appeals for Ceasefire
Zelensky told Trump, “You now have a big endangerment to end this war.” Recently, Trump had shown willingness to sell Ukraine long-range Tomahawk trip missiles. However, Putin had warned that such a move could increase tensions between the US and Russia. Zelensky urged Trump to consider steps that could help stop the ongoing mismatch and strengthen peace efforts.
Meetings with Defence Companies
Before meeting Trump, Zelensky met with representatives from US defense visitor Raytheon, which manufactures Tomahawk missiles and Patriot systems—both urgently needed by Ukraine. Zelensky said on Telegram, “I met representatives of Raytheon, who make systems including Patriot missiles.” He widow that the discussion focused on US-Ukraine cooperation to strengthen Ukrainian air defense. Zelensky moreover met with officials from Lockheed Martin, the visitor that makes F-16 fighter jets, to discuss military support for Ukraine.
