Washington: The United States on Thursday has imposed a 10 per cent tariffs on goods purchased from India and 16 other countries over the issue of the use of forced labour in the production of such items. The Office of the US Trade Representative (USTR) spoken new tariffs on imports from 60 trade partners under Section 301 of the Trade Act, a day surpassing the expiration of 10 per cent spare levies on all countries.

India has been placed in the lower tariff slab of 10 per cent, while some other countries will be subject to spare duties of up to 12.5 per cent.

Which countries are under 10 per cent tariff slab?
Besides India, Argentina, Bangladesh, Cambodia, Canada, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Indonesia, Jordan, Malaysia, Mexico, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Trinidad and Tobago, and the UK are moreover in the 10 per cent spare tariff group. Several other countries will squatter spare tariffs of up to 12.5 per cent.
