A powerful AC blast at around 3 a.m. on Monday in Faridabad’s Green Field Colony triggered a fire that killed three members of a family on the second floor of a four-storey house. The victims Sachin Kapoor, his wife Rinku Kapoor and their daughter Sujan died after being trapped by smoke and flames, while their son was rescued with serious injuries. A pet dog also died in the accident.
Fire Department Reached the Spot
After receiving information about the incident, local people immediately informed the police and the fire department. Green Field Colony Outpost Police reached the spot and took the bodies into custody and kept them in the mortuary of the Civil Hospital for post-mortem. On the other hand, the fire department, after much effort, brought the fire under control. Neighbour Mayank said that his mother had informed him about the fire. Because of the blast, his mother woke up. Then she told him that the neighbour’s house was on fire, upon which he rushed there. A family was trapped on the second floor. The deceased Sachin Kapoor’s son Aryan was hanging on the other side from a grill. He had injuries on his leg. He was rescued by cutting the gate with a cutter machine. At the same time, a neighbouring woman said that due to the AC blast, the fire started on the first floor. However, the people living in the flat where the fire started came out safely, but smoke from the first floor reached the second floor. The door got locked from inside, due to which the husband, wife and daughter died of suffocation.
Child’s Condition Critical
This family had been living in Green Field Colony for a long time. The family’s son is seriously injured and has been admitted to a nearby hospital. According to doctors, his condition remains critical and treatment is continuing. Neighbours say that suddenly seeing smoke rising from the house late at night, they panicked and immediately raised a commotion to wake others. If the fire had been brought under control in time, perhaps such a major tragedy could have been prevented.
Grief in the Colony
After this incident mourning has spread throughout the area. People are deeply saddened by the untimely death of the family and everyone’s eyes are moist. An officer of the police said that the post-mortem of the bodies will be conducted. The incident is under investigation.
