National News: On Friday morning, an unfortunate road accident took place near Battal Ballian in the Udhampur district of Jammu and Kashmir. A truck hit a car carrying pilgrims going for the sacred Amarnath Yatra. The incident led to injuries to five people, all of whom were part of the religious journey.
According to reports, the accident occurred at around 6:13 AM. The car, registered in Punjab, was carrying eight people when a truck from Uttar Pradesh rammed into it. The collision was severe enough to injure five passengers. Local authorities, including CRPF personnel from the 137th battalion, quickly reached the spot and helped in managing the situation.
Condition of the Injured
CRPF official Kartar Singh shared that all five injured passengers were taken to the hospital immediately. Their condition is now reported to be stable. The quick response by security forces and emergency services helped in providing timely medical attention. Thankfully, no deaths were reported in this crash.
Safety Concerns During the Yatra
This incident has once again raised concerns about road safety during the annual Amarnath Yatra. Thousands of pilgrims travel through the narrow and sometimes dangerous hill roads of Jammu and Kashmir. With a large number of vehicles on the road, the risk of accidents increases, especially during monsoon when the roads become slippery and visibility is often poor.
Authorities need to ensure that safety measures are strictly followed and that heavy vehicles are regulated on routes used by pilgrims. Drivers also need to be extra cautious during the yatra season, especially in early morning hours when visibility is low.
Yatra Resumes After Weather Disruption
In another development, the Amarnath Yatra, which was temporarily stopped on Thursday due to landslides and heavy rainfall, has now resumed. A fresh batch of pilgrims was allowed to move from the Nunwan and Baltal base camps toward the holy Amarnath cave early Friday morning. Authorities had to pause the yatra after stones and mudslides blocked several routes due to bad weather.
Since the beginning of the yatra on July 3, more than 2.5 lakh devotees have successfully visited the Amarnath shrine, located in the South Kashmir Himalayas. Despite unpredictable weather and challenges on the way, the enthusiasm among pilgrims remains high.

Every year, lakhs of devotees come from across the country to take part in the Amarnath Yatra. While it is a journey filled with spiritual meaning, the physical challenges are real.
