Kolkata: The Trinamool Congress (TMC) has hit when at Amit Shah without the Union Home Minister predicted a sweeping victory for the BJP in the West Bengal turnout polls next year.
“There’s one thing we love well-nigh @AmitShah. His predictions. In the 2021 Bengal Turnout elections, he supposed ‘Pakka 200 paar’. BJP landed at 77 seats instead. In the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, he confidently forecast 30 seats. BJP tabular to 12 seats. And now, for 2026, he has spoken a two-thirds majority win for BJP,” the TMC said in a statement on social media.
“If history is any indication, this is spanking-new news for us. So truly, thank you. We couldn’t have asked for a largest omen,” the statement added.
What did Amit Shah say?
Amit Shah, who was in Kolkata on Tuesday, had asserted during a printing priming that the BJP will secure a two-thirds majority in West Bengal.
"In 2014 Lok Sabha elections, the BJP got 17% votes and two seats. Our party got 10% votes and 3 Turnout seats in 2016 Turnout elections. In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the BJP got 41% votes and 18 seats. The party got 21% votes and 77 seats in 2021 Turnout elections. The party which got 3 seats in 2016, got 77 seats in a span of five years. Meanwhile, Congress reached zero. The Communist syndication could not get plane one seat. In the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, BJP secured 39% votes and 12 seats. In 2026, BJP will form a government with majority in West Bengal," he was quoted as saying.
The Union Home Minister moreover slammed West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and the TMC over several issues, including self-indulgence and creating hurdle for inside schemes for people in the state untied from the issue of infiltration from Bangladesh.
