Chhattisgarh encounter: Security forces have achieved a major success in Gariaband district of Chhattisgarh. More than 10 Naxalites, including Naxalite Balkrishna, who had a bounty of Rs 1 crore on his head, were killed in an encounter between security forces and Maoists here. This encounter took place in the dense forests of Gariaband, about 150 km from the state capital Raipur. According to officials, this operation was carried out on the basis of intelligence information received earlier.

Joint action of special forces
Let us tell you that a joint team of state police and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) carried out this operation. Information was received that a large number of Maoists are active in the area and are planning a major attack. After this, the district force, DRG (District Reserve Guard) and CRPF personnel surrounded the area from all sides. When the Maoists started firing, the security forces also retaliated, which continued for several hours.
A large quantity of weapons recovered
Security forces have recovered a huge amount of arms, ammunition and explosives from the encounter site. The recovered material includes assault rifles, country-made guns, landmines, wires, detonators and Naxalite literature. Police officials say that it is clear from the recovered weapons that the Maoists were planning a major attack, which was foiled in time.
The dead Maoists are being identified
Security forces have recovered the bodies of 10 Maoists from the spot. Some senior Naxal commanders may also be included in these. Police have said that the process of identifying the killed Maoists is underway. All the bodies have been sent to the district hospital for post-mortem and confirmation will also be done through DNA testing.
No soldier was seriously injured
There was no major loss to the security forces in this encounter. Some soldiers were slightly injured, who were sent back to duty after first aid. Officials said that the security forces carried out the entire operation in a planned manner, due to which there was no major threat to the lives of the soldiers.
Big blow to Maoists in Gariaband area
Police believe that the Maoists have suffered a major setback in this encounter. This area of Gariaband district has long been considered a stronghold of Maoist activities. Due to the increasing pressure of security forces and development work, the influence of Maoists is gradually decreasing.
