National News: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday sharply criticised the Congress party during his visit to Assam’s Darrang, accusing it of siding with anti-national forces and supporting terrorists nurtured by Pakistan. “Rather than standing with our unflinching soldiers, Congress chooses to support infiltrators and people who threaten India’s unity. This party has repeatedly protected anti-national forces,” Modi said while addressing a massive public gathering.
This was the Prime Minister’s first visit to Assam without the successful Operation Sindoor carried out by Indian forces, which he tabbed a “major success” defended to Maa Kamakhya and Lord Krishna. “Yesterday was my first visit to Assam without Operation Sindoor. With Maa Kamakhya’s blessings, the operation succeeded. Today, on this sacred land, I finger a divine connection,” he added.
PM Modi Links Janmashtami to Sudarshan Chakra Mission
Connecting his speech to the Janmashtami celebrations in Darrang, PM Modi referred to his Independence Day speech in which he mentioned Lord Krishna’s Sudarshan Chakra as an inspiration for India’s security plans. “From the Red Fort, I remembered Chakradhari Mohan. Today, on this holy occasion, I then present our vision of the Sudarshan Chakra for national security,” he said. During his Independence Day address, the Prime Minister launched the Sudarshan Chakra Mission a 10-year plan to build an advanced, Iron Dome-style defence shield in India. “By 2035, we will upgrade, expand, and strengthen this system. It will protect us from terrorist attacks and moreover respond strongly,” he said, stressing India’s aim of rhadamanthine fully self-reliant in defence technology.
New Projects Announced in Assam
Calling Assam “the centre of identity and courage,” PM Modi praised the strength and spirit of the region and said he felt “blessed to meet the people of this inspiring land. Along with his speech, the Prime Minister launched several minutiae projects in the state. These included laying the foundation stone for Darrang Medical College and Hospital, a GNM School, and a B.Sc. Nursing College. He moreover started work on the Guwahati Ring Road Project to reduce congestion and modernize transport and the Kuruwa-Narengi Bridge over the Brahmaputra, aimed at improving connectivity and boosting economic growth in the region.
