National News:A tragic road accident took place in Uttar Pradesh’s Bulandshahr district on Monday. A tractor-trolley carrying devotees was hit from behind by a speeding container near Ghatal village on National Highway-34 under Arnia police station limits. The collision was so severe that eight people lost their lives on the spot, while more than 50 others were left injured. Many of the injured include women and children.
Devotees on Their Way to Gogamedi
The devotees had started their journey from different villages of Kasganj district late Sunday night. They were headed to Gogamedi in Rajasthan’s Hanumangarh district to attend the annual fair of Jaharveer Baba, a religious gathering that attracts thousands of followers every year. Singing devotional songs, the group was on its way when the accident struck.
Victims Identified
Police confirmed the identities of several victims and informed their families. The deceased include:
- Chandni (12), daughter of Kalicharan, resident of Rafatpur, Kasganj
- Rambeti (62), wife of Soranlal, resident of Rafatpur, Soron, Kasganj
- Eipu Babu, resident of Milkaniya, Soron, Kasganj
- Dhaniram, resident of Milkaniya, Soron, Kasganj
- Mishri, resident of Milkaniya, Soron, Kasganj
- Shivansh (6), son of Ajay, resident of Soron, Kasganj
The process of identifying the remaining victims is still going on.
Swift Action by Authorities
Soon after receiving information, police teams and local officials rushed to the spot. The injured were taken to nearby hospitals for treatment. Those with serious injuries were referred to bigger medical facilities in Meerut and Aligarh. Officials said they will extend all possible assistance to the relatives of those who died.

Bulandshahr SSP Dinesh Kumar Singh confirmed that a container rammed into the tractor-trolley from behind, leading to the deaths of eight devotees and injuries to 43 others. The container has been seized, and efforts are underway to trace the driver who fled after the accident.
Grief in Kasganj
Word of the tragedy left Kasganj and nearby areas in deep sorrow. Families of the victims are devastated, and many homes are mourning. Villagers are also visiting hospitals to help the injured and their relatives.
Investigation Ordered
Authorities have ordered an inquiry into the incident. It is yet to be determined whether the container driver was under the influence of alcohol or if overspeeding caused the crash. A case has been registered, and the police have initiated further inquiry.
