However, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has given great relief by predicting monsoon rains in many states in the coming days.
Life affected due to torrential rains in Mumbai
On Monday, heavy rains occurred in many areas of Mumbai and Navi Mumbai, causing waterlogging on railway tracks and roads. The common man had to face great difficulties in movement. The India Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert for Mumbai and a red alert for Palghar district. Under this, warnings of strong winds and torrential rains have been given.
Many local trains were delayed due to waterlogging on the railway track, while officegoers had to deal with intermittent traffic and waterlogging. The civil administration has been activated, and water drainage work is going on with the help of pumping machines.
Situation worsened due to rain in Gujarat, Chief Minister gave instructions
Life has been disrupted due to continuous heavy rains in Saurashtra and southern districts of Gujarat. State Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel informed through social media that all district collectors have been instructed to increase vigilance and ensure the safety of citizens.
He said that "there should be no laxity in maintaining waterlogging, power supply, medical system, food items, and other essential services due to rain." Also, citizens have been appealed to maintain distance from rivers, drains, and flowing streams."
Heat wave continues in North India, but relief may come soon
North Indian states Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Rajasthan, and Haryana are still experiencing intense heat. However, the Meteorological Department has forecast that there may be sporadic to heavy rains in eastern Uttar Pradesh between June 16 and 22. People are expected to get some relief from the heat due to this.
There is a possibility of thunderstorms in Rajasthan on June 16 and 17, while there is a heavy rain alert in Uttarakhand for the next four days. Delhiites may also face light to moderate rains in the next few days, which may lead to a drop in temperature.
Monsoon has become active in South India
Monsoon has become active in states like Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, Kerala, Lakshadweep, and Karnataka. Heavy rainfall with strong winds is expected in these areas between June 16 and 18. IMD said that there may be very heavy rainfall at some places in Tamil Nadu on June 16. This will bring down the temperature and provide relief in agriculture.
