National News: Hizbul Mujahideen’s notorious chief Mohammad Yusuf Shah, widely known as Syed Sallahuddin, was officially declared a fugitive by a special court in Srinagar on Friday. The court has ordered him to appear before it by August 30, 2025. Failure to do so could result in the confiscation of his remaining properties by the authorities.
NIA Submits Charge Sheet
According to case sources, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) filed a charge sheet (challan) against Syed Sallahuddin in the court. The document reveals that FIR No. 64/2012 is registered against him at Zakura Police Station, Srinagar. He faces serious accusations under Sections 13 and 18 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) and Section 505 of the RPC.
Absconding Despite Arrest Warrant
Investigators informed the court that an arrest warrant had been issued against the militant leader, but Sallahuddin kept changing his hideouts to avoid capture. Multiple search operations failed to locate him.
Court Issues Proclamation
Taking a strict stance, the court issued a formal proclamation declaring him a fugitive. The order mandates that Sallahuddin must appear before the court by August 30, 2025 to respond to the charges leveled against him.
Strict Action if He Fails to Comply
The court warned that if he does not comply, his assets will be seized under Sections 82 and 83 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC).
Notably, this is not the first time action has been taken against his properties—several of his assets have already been confiscated in earlier enforcement measures.

Syed Sallahuddin, born Mohammad Yusuf Shah, hails from Soibugh in the Budgam district of Jammu and Kashmir. He is the selfproclaimed chief of the Hizbul Mujahideen terrorist organization and has been orchestrating militant operations from Pakistan for many years.

Indian security agencies consider him a key mastermind behind militant activity in the Kashmir Valley. He has been linked to terror funding, weapons smuggling, and planning of attacks targeting Indian security forces and civilians.
