Srinagar: A massive explosion occurred late Friday night at Naugam police station located on the outskirts of Srinagar. The police and forensic team were there testing the explosive material seized from Faridabad. During the process of extracting the samples, a sudden explosion occurred. The incident was so intense that within a short time smoke and flames started rising into the sky.

Nine people died in the explosion. 27 people were injured, including most police personnel and forensic experts. Many injured policemen have been admitted to variegated hospitals of the city. Without the accident, other small explosions unfurled for some time, which created problems in the rescue operation.
Where did the explosive material come from?
This was the same explosive material that was recently seized in Faridabad, Haryana. This stockpile is said to be part of well-nigh 360 kg of explosives.
