Owaisi Slams Modi Govt Over Pahalgam Attack, Calls It Major Security Lapse

Published: Jul 17, 2025

All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) president Asaduddin Owaisi has blamed the Modi-led Central government for what he termed a serious security failure following the deadly terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir.

‘Where Was the Security System?’

Addressing a public gathering in Nizamabad, Telangana, Owaisi lashed out at the Centre for failing to prevent the incident. He referred to the killing of 26 Hindu pilgrims in the region and demanded accountability. “Four terrorists managed to infiltrate and carry out an attack in Pahalgam, and now the Governor is saying he takes responsibility. If the government claims to track illegal migrants in Bihar like Bangladeshis and Rohingyas, then how did it miss these four terrorists entering a sensitive region like Pahalgam?” Owaisi asked during his speech. He further accused the government of selective action and said, “You talk about Nepalese in Bihar, but can’t stop terrorists in Kashmir? Were you asleep?”

Demands for Justice and Action

The AIMIM MP from Hyderabad also called for continued efforts under "Operation Sindoor," which was launched on May 7 to target terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK). “You promised revenge for Pahalgam—then see it through. Operation Sindoor should not stop until all four attackers are caught or neutralised,” he said, calling the attack a clear lapse in security intelligence and preparedness.

Concerns Over Bihar’s Voter List Revision

In another development, Owaisi criticised the Election Commission of India (ECI) for rushing the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Bihar. He demanded transparency, saying, “Give us the contact details of the Booth Level Officers (BLOs). Our party workers will verify their claims. Most youth from Seemanchal are working in other states—don't rush this process.” He also highlighted that AIMIM Bihar President Akhtarul Iman is one of the petitioners in the case, referencing a recent Supreme Court observation that Aadhaar cards, EPICs, and ration cards can be used as valid documents for voter registration under the SIR.
