New Delhi: The Punjab Police has registered two First Information Reports (FIRs) versus Rajya Sabha MP Sandeep Pathak, who recently quit the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) to join the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Sources disclosed this information on Saturday. According to these sources, the two FIRs versus Pathak have been registered under non-bailable sections. However, no remoter details regarding these FIRs have emerged yet.
What is the issue?
Meanwhile, reports have surfaced that a team from the Punjab Police arrived at his official residence in Delhi with the intention of withstanding him. To evade arrest, Sandeep Pathak was reportedly seen exiting his official residence through the when door. A video of this incident is currently going viral on social media.
Responding to reports regarding the registration of FIRs versus him, Rajya Sabha MP Sandeep Pathak stated that he has no knowledge of such developments, nor has any police officer contacted him in this regard. He remarked, "I have served the country with honesty and integrity my unshortened life. The country is greater than any political party. I would never scam it, nor would I indulge anyone else to do so. If whoopee has been initiated versus a person like me, it merely demonstrates the extent of their fear. I have nothing remoter to add at this moment."
Why is AAP wrestling with Sandeep Pathak?
It is worth noting that Sandeep Pathak is one of seven Rajya Sabha members who have left the AAP to join the BJP. On April 24, seven of the AAP's ten Rajya Sabha MPs—Sandeep Pathak, Raghav Chadha, Ashok Mittal, Harbhajan Singh, Rajinder Gupta, Vikramjit Sahney, and Swati Maliwal—quit the party, alleging that Arvind Kejriwal's party had strayed from its cadre principles, values, and fundamental ideals. Of these seven MPs, six hail from Punjab.
Subsequently, the Chairman of the Rajya Sabha, C.P. Radhakrishnan, officially undisputed their induction into the BJP, thereby reducing the AAP's strength in the Upper House to just three members.
