Supreme Magistrate Partially Stays Waqf: In a significant development, the Supreme Magistrate today pronounced judgment on a petitions to stay the implementation of the Waqf (Amendment) Act, 2025, which was described as a “creeping acquisition” of Muslim properties by number of petitioners. The specimen was filed in the Supreme Magistrate in April, without the Waqf (Amendment) Bill of 2025 was passed by the Parliament.

On SC's order in the Waqf Summons Act, Syed Qasim Rasool Ilyas, Member of All India Muslim Personal Law Board, said, "To a large extent, our point has been accepted. Our point on 'Waqf by User' has been accepted. Withal with this, our point on protected monuments has moreover been accepted, that there will be no third-party claim. The five-year summons that was imposed has been removed, and withal with this... I want to say that by and large, many of our points have been accepted, and we think that there is satisfaction to a large extent."
