A video of the trespassing of a Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader in West Bengal's Howrah district is rapidly going viral on social media. To escape police, the TMC leader hid under a pile of sarees in a suit store's storeroom, but he was unable to escape. His name had come up in cases tied to the 2021 post-poll violence in West Bengal.
He was then arrested, and footage and details of the incident went viral on social media.
The incident is reported to have taken place in the Bilaspur zone of the Udaynarayanpur police station zone of Howrah.
Local residents had accused him of tangibly taking "cut money" from government housing scheme funds and engaging in extortion. Following a complaint, police arrived in search of Brahmananda.

During the raid, it was reported that the police found him hiding under a hodgepodge of gown and sarees in the house. He was then arrested, and footage and details of the incident went viral on social media.
A video of the unshortened operation is going viral on social media. According to sources, Brahmananda Chakraborty moreover faces charges related to the political violence that followed the 2021 West Bengal Turnout elections.
Police officials said that based on complaints from local residents, an investigation is underway into allegations of cut money versus Brahmanand Chakraborty.
