According to the notification issued by the UGC on January 13, it has been made mandatory for every higher and university to establish 'Equal Opportunity Centers' (EOCs) and 'Equity Committees'. These committees will mandatorily include representation from OBCs, SCs, STs, persons with disabilities, and women. Their job will be to investigate any kind of favoritism occurring on campus.
'Equity Squads' will be worked to monitor sensitive areas of the campus such as hostels, canteens, and departments. 'Equity Ambassadors' will moreover be scheduled from among the students. A committee meeting must be convened within 24 hours of receiving a complaint of discrimination, and whoopee must be taken within a stipulated time frame.
